A Solid Second Week After Opening

We have a pretty big second week at Hilltop Squash. Plenty of new registrations and solid attendance numbers.

Some Stats and Highlights

  • We have had our first online court bookings for members
  • We had over 20 participants for Wednesday Night Social Squash (see report below)
  • We had our first Friday customers attend Squash On Friday
  • Another 6 people joined our membership program
  • Almost 20 new people registered with us during the week - a great result
  • We got the good news that our application for funding some new tech for scoring screens on all courts, was approved this week (full report later)
  • We had a couple of leaks during very heavy downpours which will be fixed this week

Wednesday Night Social Squash (From 6.00pm)

Despite the very rainy weather, we had 23 participants  for this second session.

With only a few making the journey from the Bay, there was almost 20 Maryborough locals participating - a really good result.

Whilst the matches were best of 3 games, the vast majority of people played at least two matches.

After being away from Squash for some time, Brendan Guy, the coordinator, reports there were plenty of tired bodies making their way home at around 8.00pm.

Players got their first taste of using the scoring apps, which recorded many of the initial matches and got sent off to the website for tabulation.

We'll publish all recorded results on our Wednesday webpage very soon.

Squash On Fridays (9.00am to noon)

We had a total of 5 people attend Squash on Friday - our first Friday customers.

Undoubtedly, the rain had a negative effect on participation as we were expecting a few more, both from Hervey Bay and from Maryborough.

We also had a couple of Hilltop Stalwarts drop by (Nino Laviano and Kerry Jensen) with the hope that next week they will bring their rackets and Squash gear, not their work gear.

A couple of other prospective customers dropped in as well, so hopefully they will return in coming weeks with their rackets as well.

On the subject of rackets, we do have a few quality rackets for sale (slightly older stock) for very good prices, so come in and check them out.

Just a reminder that you can also hire courts on Friday afternoon till around 3pm (Max $12.50 each for a session)

Court Hire

Now anyone can book a court for casual hire, by phone.

Simply phone 4122 4199 to book your court. At present you will need to pay by bank transfer, if the centre is not staffed. We will send you an access code.

  • $30/hour 5pm - 7pm Monday to Thursday (subject to availability)
  • $25/hour other times
  • Phone to discuss a regular weekly booking

We are presently finalising some issues with online payment through the online booking sheet, so it won't be long before we offer that option as well. Stay tuned.
